What is industrial hygiene? In short, it is defined by the American Industrial Hygiene Association as “science dedicated to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of environmental factors or stresses that arise in or around the workplace, which may cause sickness, impaired health, or discomfort among workers or citizens of the community”. It is a combination of many scientific disciplines from toxicology, physics, chemistry, microbiology, risk assessment, and statistics rolled into the challenging and varied field of occupational and public health.
